The term "Realtor" is actually a registered designation owned by the National Association of Realtors.  To legally use the designation or be called by that designation a licensed reale estate professional must go through the certification process in addition to obtaining a real estate license from the state.  In order to be a Realtor one must be licensed by the state, a member of the the National Association of Realtors, the  Michigan Association of Realtors and be a member in good standing of their local board of Realtors.
